Medical Aesthetics Q & A

What medical aesthetic services are available?

The team at Columbia Eye Associates & Family Focus Eye Care understands that skin imperfections can be just as frustrating as vision and eye health issues. When you’re already taking care of your vision needs with stylish glasses or opting for contact lenses to enhance the appearance of your eye area, consider including medical aesthetic services to improve your look further.

Medical aesthetic services available at Columbia Eye Associates & Family Focus Eye Care include:

Lumenis® M22™

The Lumenis M22 device uses a type of laser called intense pulsed light (IPL) to improve the appearance of skin and remove unwanted hair from the face and body for smoother, clearer skin and a rejuvenated appearance.

TempSure™ Envi

The TempSure Envi is a handheld radiofrequency device that gently heats your skin to stimulate collagen formation. With more collagen, your skin becomes tighter and more elastic for a youthful appearance.

The team can also discuss safe eye makeup application and removal with you to protect your eyes and reduce the risk of eye irritation, infections, and development of wrinkles and crow’s feet around the eyes.

How does IPL work?

The Lumenis M22 device uses IPL which emits pulsed light at different wavelengths depending on the type of procedure you’re receiving. Lower and higher frequency wavelengths can be used to improve blood flow to your skin, destroy unwanted facial and body hair at the roots, and induce cellular turnover for younger, clearer looking skin.

IPL penetrates through the surface of your skin to reach cells called chromophores in the deeper layers of your skin. Chromophores react to light by initiating different cellular responses that break down hyperpigmentation or sun spots, support skin healing, and allow dead skin cells to slough off so newer, younger skin cells can take their place.

How does radiofrequency work?

The TempSure Envi device emits precise radiofrequency waves that penetrate the surface of your skin to heat the deeper layers of tissues. As these layers are heated, your body naturally increases blood flow to and collagen production in the treatment area.

Multiple sessions may be recommended to see the full results, although many patients report a noticeable difference in the tightness and tone of their skin after the treatment.* Patients also report that it’s a relaxing treatment that produces results without the need for chemicals, injections, or surgery.
